Providing specialized advice and evaluation
Many parents ask themselves the following questions:
- Does my child read very slowly and lack fluency?
- Does my child lack the basic reading skills to figure out new words?
- Is reading comprehension a problem?
- Is self-esteem becoming an issue?
- Is my child struggling?
To help answer these questions, I will administer initial standardized and informal assessments in order to:
- gauge a student's overall literacy development
- discern their strengths and needs
- determine their perceptions about reading
- discover background experiences in reading and writing
Once the areas of strength and need have been assessed, an instructional course of action is recommended with an individualized report that brings a child's educational needs into focus.
This report:
- addresses the identified areas of concern
- will be shared with his/her teacher
I will work with his/her teacher to make certain our findings are known and followed through in the classroom
