Many parents ask themselves the following questions:

• Does my child read very slowly and lack fluency?
• Does my child lack the basic reading skills to figure out new words?
• Is reading comprehension a problem?
• Is self-esteem becoming an issue?
• Is my child struggling?

To help answer these questions, I will administer initial standardized and informal assessments in order to:

• gauge a student's overall literacy development
• discern their strengths and needs
• determine their perceptions about reading
• discover background experiences in reading and writing

Once the areas of strength and need have been assessed, an instructional course of action is recommended with an individualized report that brings a child's educational needs into focus.

This report:

• addresses the identified areas of concern
• will be shared with his/her teacher

I will work with his/her teacher to make certain our findings are known and followed through in the classroom
